DEFAULT RELATED (FREE)
There is a free plugin available in the WordPress repository for users to add custom products as related products to others: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpc-custom-related-products/
There are 3 levels of related products arranged from the highest to the lowest priority: Custom related >> Smart Related >> Default Related

Custom Related: a custom list of products to be manually added in the Related products tab of single product pages.

Default Related: choose a type of products to be added as default related products storewide. Our plugin will automatically find the selected products to show as related products for individual items.

Smart Related: users can specify a list of conditions to add related products to multiple products or groups at the same time.
Custom Related Products
When activated, this plugin will automatically find products that are under the same category(ies) or using the same tag(s) to add to products as related products. If users would like to advertise specific product suggestions, they can manually add items from the Related products tab of each single product page.
The list of custom related products on single product pages will always prioritized over default related products and Smart Related products configure from the plugin settings under WPClever >> Related Products.
Default Related Products
If you don’t want to manually add a custom list to each product from the Related products tab, you can quickly set up Default related products from the plugin setting, so it’s possible to even re-use the cross-sells & up-sells (Linked products) as Related products easily.
Default related products can be:
- Related products (added from the Related products tab or our plugin will automatically find products from the same categories/tags of each product).
- Cross-sells (added from the Linked products tab).
- Up-sells (added from the Linked products tab).
- Cross-sells & up-sells (both added from the Linked products tab).
- None (hide Related products).
SMART RELATED PRODUCTS
(PREMIUM)
From WPClever menu, open the Related Products plugin settings then navigate to Smart Related tab:
Smart Related helps users add a predefined list of products to multiple products at the same time using several sources, thus save more time and effort:
- All products
- Products
- Combined (PREMIUM only)
- Categories: multiple categories are possible
- Tags: multiple tags are possible
- Brands: brands created by the WPC Brands for WooCommerce free plugin
- Collections: collections created by the WPC Smart Product Collections for WooCommerce free plugin
- Product type: choose “variable, variation, simple, subscription, variable subscription, woosb (Smart Bundles), woosg (Smart Grouped), composite (Smart Composite)”
- Product visibility: exclude-from-search, exclude-from-catalog, rate-1, rated-2, rated-3, rated-4, rated-5
- Product shipping classes
- Product attributes
PREMIUM: COMBINED SOURCES
What is worth mentioning about the Combined sources is that it allows multiple sources above to be combined so that users can defined products at a higher level. You can describe even the most complex and complicated conditions for both the Applicable products and Smart Related products as below:
INTEGRATIONS
WPC Custom Related Products for WooCommerce is integrated into WPC Fly Cart for WooCommerce & WPC Added to Cart Notification for WooCommerce to show custom related products on the popup based on users’ preferences.
Custom related products can also be re-used as Linked Products (Upsells & Cross-sells) using the WPC Smart Linked Products for WooCommerce plugin.
