It’s possible to link products of different types so they appear as if they are variation of the same variable product. In this example, we will link a simple product, a variable product and a smart bundle by 3 attributes.
- Create 3 products: simple, variable, smart bundle.
- Create or re-use 3 attributes under Products >> Attributes and terms for each: Featured Images (Black, Mixed Color), Packaging Type (Box, Piece), Price Range (Under $50, About $100, Above $100).
- Assign Attributes and 1 unique term combination to each product on their product page: Simple product (Black, Piece, Under $50), Variable product (Black, Piece, About $100), Smart bundle (Mixed, Box, Above $100). Each combination must have at least 1 unique term so our plugin can distinguish between linked variations.
- Go to Linked Variations >> Add New, add 3 products and put a check in 3 attributes >> Publish.
It’s not required to choose any option in the right-hand list to make it work. Show images will display the featured image of each product. Use drop-down for attributes with long list of terms. Use swatches from our WPC Variation Swatches for WooCommerce plugin.
